The conflict in Gaza has been ongoing for 11 months with no signs of ceasing. The Israeli military has launched intense airstrikes and continues ground military operations. In the latest update, Israeli forces have eliminated Ahmed Aish Salam Al-Hashsh, the head of Hamas's rocket and missile unit, in Rafah, based on intelligence reports. Al-Hashsh was responsible for coordinating rocket attacks with the Rafah Brigade.
Ahmed Aish Salam Al-Hashsh was considered an expert in rocket and missile attacks. His death is seen as a significant setback for Hamas. He was operating from a civilian area at the time of the attack, conducting terrorist activities from there. Israel took several measures to minimize civilian casualties before the strike, including aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering, and the use of precision weapons.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Education reports that over 11,000 students have been killed in Gaza and the West Bank due to Israeli attacks since October 7. Additionally, at least seven people were killed when the Israeli military bombed the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza on Tuesday. Many people are trapped, and rescue operations are underway. The injured have been taken to hospitals for treatment.
Instead of halting, the Israeli military operation in Gaza is intensifying. Last week, Israel conducted several large-scale airstrikes on central and southern Gaza. An airstrike on a house killed at least 14 people and injured many others. Gaza's civil defense reported that 11 Palestinians, including three women and four children, were killed in that attack. Israel also struck Khan Younis.
Three people died in an airstrike targeting a refugee camp. According to the Associated Press, the ongoing Israeli military operations have had the most devastating impact on children. Many have lost their ability to hear and speak. The conflict initiated last October when Hamas, governing Gaza, attacked Israel, resulting in 1,200 deaths. The war has continued since then.
To halt the war, thousands of demonstrators marched on the streets of Tel Aviv again. They demanded that the Israeli government immediately negotiate with Hamas for the release of hostages. Families and friends of the hostages are concerned that a prolonged war will result in more hostage deaths. Long-term demonstrators are calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his entire government.
Hamas had attacked Israel and taken more than 250 people hostage. While Hamas has released about half of the hostages, some have died. Approximately 110 Israeli citizens are still held captive by Hamas. During the protest, demonstrators accused the government of deliberately failing to secure the release of hostages, claiming that the government's focus is on prolonging the conflict.
