Israel has avenged the bloodshed of October 7. Early Wednesday, Israel eliminated Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh, who had been stoking the fires of retaliation for the past nine months. Remarkably, Haniyeh was not in Gaza, Palestine, or Qatar, but in Tehran, the capital of Iran. Hamas released a statement confirming the death of their chief.
On Tuesday (July 30), Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh attended the swearing-in ceremony of Iran's new President Masoud Pazeshkian. During his visit, Haniyeh also met with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The next day (Wednesday), Israel leveled the house where Ismail Haniyeh was staying.
Bodyguard Also Killed
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the attack was targeted at Haniyeh's hideout in Tehran. Alongside Hamas Chief, his bodyguard was also killed in the operation.

Haniyeh Resided in Doha
Hamas, the Palestinian organization, has multiple units managing political, military, and social functions. Its policies are guided by a consultative body, headquartered in the Gaza Strip. Until now, Ismail Haniyeh has held the reins of Hamas, serving as its chairman since succeeding Khaled Meshaal in 2017. Haniyeh lived in Doha, Qatar, from where he oversaw Hamas's operations, as Egypt had barred him from entering or leaving Gaza.
Three Sons Also Killed
Recently, in April 2024, Israeli security forces neutralized Haniyeh's three sons. In an airstrike on the Gaza Strip, Israel killed Haniyeh's three sons—Amir, Hazem, and Mohammed—while they were planning terrorist activities. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported that the trio was caught in airstrikes during their operations.
What Happened on October 7?
The conflict between Israel and Hamas has been ongoing since October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched an attack on Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking 250 civilians hostage. It is believed that around 150 hostages are still held by Hamas. Hamas claims that Israeli attacks have killed over 39,000 Palestinian civilians. In contrast, Israel states it has eliminated over 14,000 Hamas fighters and their allies in this operation.
