The Israeli Air Force (IAF) launched a decisive strike on two fighter aircraft at the airport in Tabriz, a western city in Iran. These old-model fighters, namely F-5 and F-4, were on the verge of taking off. Israel’s pinpoint assault resulted in their complete destruction.
The Israeli military revealed that the operation aimed to hinder Iran's air force operations and further dismantle its aerial defense systems. The IDF emphasized in a statement that their ongoing strikes against structures tied to Iran’s terrorist networks are designed to prevent any threats against Israel from taking root.
What about F-5 and F-4 Aircraft?
The F-5 and F-4 models are outdated fighter jets from Iran’s fleet, acquired from the U.S. during the 1970-80s. Few remain in Iran’s arsenal, and they are now considered underpowered for contemporary aerial combat. Despite this, Israel obliterated them before flight to avert any potential use against Israel.
This assault forms part of the ongoing tension between Israel and Iran. In recent days, Israel has executed significant strikes on several of Iran’s military bases, missile launchers, and air defense systems, asserting that these measures are critical for self-defense in light of threats from Iran.
Iran has so far not issued an official statement concerning the strike. However, in response to past attacks, Iran conducted missile and drone strikes on Israeli and American sites. Experts believe Israel is striving to decisively undermine Iran's aerial power to eliminate any looming danger in the future.
The Israeli Air Force is clear about maintaining this course of action to destabilize Iran’s terrorist structure. The situation remains tense and fragile.
