Unfortunately, rain caused a two-hour delay before the match could get underway. But once play began, Mumbai's own Suryakumar Yadav made history with his bat. The Mumbai Indians' star batsman achieved another milestone in the 2025 IPL season, setting the record for most runs scored by a non-opener in a single season.

Suryakumar Yadav has surpassed 691 runs in the 2025 IPL season, overtaking the previous record held by AB de Villiers, who scored 687 runs in 2016.

Suryakumar captivated everyone with his batting prowess this season. Known for his impressive strike rate and magnificent shot selection, he excelled in the middle order, fortifying his team's position while underscoring his invaluable role throughout the season.

Before this, Rishabh Pant had scored 684 runs in 2018, but now Suryakumar has outdone him too. During IPL 2023, Suryakumar showcased similar brilliance with 605 runs to his name.
