Delhi Capitals (DC) vs Mumbai Indians (MI), IPL 2025:
The 29th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 pitched Delhi Capitals (DC) against Mumbai Indians (MI). Held on April 13th (Sunday) at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium, Mumbai Indians clinched a thrilling win by 12 runs. Delhi aimed for a target of 206 runs but fell short, ending at 193 in 19 overs. This match marked Delhi Capitals' first loss of the current IPL season after having won four consecutive matches. Meanwhile, five-time champions Mumbai Indians secured their second win in six games.
Game Altered by Three Runouts, Karun Nair's Stellar Innings Wasted
Chasing the target, Delhi Capitals faced an early setback, losing Jake Fraser-McGurk on the first ball, courtesy of Deepak Chahar. After Jake's dismissal, Karun Nair stepped in as the 'impact sub', forming a formidable partnership with Abhishek Porel. Nair sensationally hit a half-century in just 22 balls. The pair accumulated a solid 119-run stand for the second wicket, propelling Delhi’s momentum. However, this was broken when Karn Sharma dismissed Porel, who scored 33 runs from 25 balls with three boundaries and one six.
Shortly after Porel's exit, Karun Nair also departed. His knock of 89 from 42 balls, featuring 12 boundaries and 5 sixes, was brought to an end by Mitchell Santner. Subsequently, Delhi lost captain Axar Patel (9) and Tristan Stubbs (1) cheaply, dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah and Karn Sharma, respectively. Karn further added to Delhi's woes by dismissing KL Rahul in the 16th over.
With Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam bearing the responsibility for victory, hopes were dashed when Santner stumped Nigam, leaving Delhi at 180 for four. Needing 23 runs in the final two overs for a win, Delhi's hopes were crushed by three runouts in the 19th over, executed by Bumrah, leading to the dismissals of Ashutosh Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohit Sharma.
