Tensions between India and Pakistan and Operation Sindur led Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to brief the parliamentary committee on Monday. A seven-party delegation created by Modi's central government will visit major UN partner nations to tackle terrorism.
This delegation aims to present India's anti-terrorism policies to the world. However, there has been visible dissent within Maharashtra's Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) regarding this initiative.
Shrill Dissent from Shiv Sena (UBT)
Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena (UBT) MP, criticized the formation of this multi-party delegation, questioning its process and intentions.
He stated that despite having 9 Lok Sabha MPs from Shiv Sena (UBT), their party was ignored without any consultation.
Raut argued that Indian ambassadors abroad were already managing this work. Forming such a team might internationalize the Kashmir issue.
What Did Aaditya Thackeray Say?
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray suggested political motives behind forming the delegation. Though the party will send a representative in national interest, doubts about the Modi government's intentions remain.
He emphasized the need for the Foreign Minister to explain the necessity of sending delegations abroad. Queries about how terrorists reached Pahalgam remain unanswered.
NCP Chief Sharad Pawar's Comments
Contrasting Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP Chief Sharad Pawar adopted a balanced approach, urging rising above political lines in such matters. India needs to project a united front globally.
He stressed that the delegation's objective is to clearly present India's anti-terrorism stance internationally.
Former CM Prithviraj Chavan's Take
Congress leader and former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan reiterated that no consultation was made before appointing party leaders to the delegation.
He mentioned that the party suggested four names, but Shashi Tharoor was appointed to lead the delegation without discussion.
Counterattack from the Shinde Faction
Shiv Sena MP and delegation member Dr. Shrikant Shinde accused Shiv Sena (UBT) of politicizing national issues.
Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that all political parties are represented in this delegation. This initiative is a pivotal step to expose Pakistan.
