A historic ceremony was held across all Uttar Pradesh jails, where inmates bathed in sacred waters brought from the grand Kumbh Mela. At Varanasi Central Jail, thousands of inmates took a reverent dip. Over 2200 inmates immersed themselves in the holy waters, echoing chants of 'Har Har Mahadev' and 'Jai Ganga Mayya' throughout the premises. They hailed the event as a blessing and expressed gratitude to the government while praying for their rapid release.

Vedic Rituals and Kalash Yatra Inside Jail

Before the bath, the jail administration conducted a formal ritual at the Hanuman temple with mantras while establishing the sacred Kalash. The water from the Kumbh Mela was sanctified and then paraded around the jail with the sound of conch shells. Inmates carried the sacred Kalash of the Triveni on their heads, circling the jail, and offering it across four different water tanks, enabling all inmates to partake in the sacred bathing.

Jail Superintendent Recalls Historic Moment

Radha Krishna Mishra, the Superintendent of Varanasi Central Jail, described this unique event as the most amazing and historic moment of his career. He stated, “In our jail, approximately 2200 inmates had the sacred opportunity to bathe in Kumbh Mela waters today. I’ve never witnessed such an event in my lifetime. We express our gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and all senior officials.”

Prisoners' Emotions and Faith

Participating inmates expressed that they never imagined experiencing such fortune. Many partook in the Kumbh Mela bath for the first time, considering it a significant life event. A convicted inmate emotionally shared how it seemed impossible for them to attend the Kumbh Mela, but the Yogi-Modi government granted them the opportunity to bathe in the sacred Triveni within jail walls. They prayed for the absolution of their sins and swift release.

Spiritual Ambiance and Religious Faith

The entire program maintained a spiritual atmosphere with Vedic chants resonating within the jail. This exceptional initiative reflects the religious devotion and compassionate approach of the government towards the inmates. It promotes mental and spiritual enhancement among the prisoners. According to the jail administration, the event will positively impact the inmates' behavior and outlook.
