Indore: Retired SBI Officer Digitally Arrested with Fake ED Warrant; 40 Lakh Rupees Swindled

A shocking case of digital arrest has emerged from Indore. Criminals swindled 40 lakh rupees from a retired SBI officer. They digitally confined 61-year-old Rakesh Goyal for two days and extorted money by showing a fake ED warrant. The police have registered the case and initiated an investigation.

A shocking case of digital arrest has emerged from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Criminals exploited the fear of an ED warrant to swindle 40 lakh rupees from a retired officer. This marks the 8th case of digital arrest in Indore. Reports suggest that the criminals digitally confined the elderly gentleman for two days. Additional Police Commissioner Amit Singh has assigned this case to the Crime Branch for thorough investigation. There is a suspicion of a gang from Haryana being involved.

Crime Branch Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya informed that this incident took place in the Suncity Colony of Mahalaxmi Nagar, where 61-year-old Rakesh Goyal resides. A retired official from SBI Bank, Goyal was intimidated with a fake ED warrant via video call.

Victim Rakesh Goyal explained that he retired as a Deputy Bank Manager. On July 11, he received video calls from unknown numbers. The impostors threatened him with fake passports and drugs and kept him under surveillance through an app.

The Frauds Digitally Confined an Elderly SBI Retiree for Two Days

The offenders launched a bogus investigation into a money laundering case against him. Goyal asserted that he was unaware of such transactions. However, they showed a warrant in his name over the video call. The fraudsters told him that his ID was used in the bank accounts involved in money laundering. Terrified, Goyal complied with their demands.

They threatened him with arrest and managed to extort 40 lakh rupees. Crime Branch Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya mentions that a meticulous investigation is underway, and the criminals will be apprehended soon.
