Savitri Jindal confirmed on Twitter (now X) platform on Wednesday that, based on her family's advice, she has decided to resign from the primary membership of Congress. She stated, 'For 10 years as a legislator, I've represented the people of Hisar, serving the state of Haryana selflessly as a minister. The people of Hisar are my family, and it's on their advice that I'm resigning from Congress today.'

She further wrote that she will always be grateful for the support of the Congress leadership and her colleagues who have always extended their support and respect.

  At the top tier of India's wealthiest women, Savitri Jindal, aged 84, is steering the massive enterprise of the Jindal Group. Savitri Jindal's Political Career

The chairperson of the OP Jindal Group, Savitri Jindal, had represented the Hisar constituency for 10 years and served in the Haryana government as a minister. After the demise of her husband and founder of the Jindal Group, OP Jindal, in a plane crash in 2005, Jindal was elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly from Hisar. She was re-elected in 2009 and appointed as a cabinet minister in the Haryana government in October 2013. She worked as Minister of Urban Local Bodies and Housing in 2006, but faced defeat from Hisar in the 2014 Haryana assembly election.
