India T20 World Cup 2024 Squad Highlights:
The much-awaited revelation of the Team India squad for the T20 World Cup happened on April 30th. 15 elite players were handpicked, elevating excitement amongst fans. However, what ensued in the subsequent IPL matches left quite a few chosen ones grappling with form. The list of underperformers astonishingly includes T20 World Cup captain Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
Consider the April 30th clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians. Lucknow emerged victorious with four balls to spare. Mumbai managed to put up a score of 144 runs in this neck-and-neck battle. Notably, the Mumbai squad included World Cup selectees, such as Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah.
Rohit Sharma could only muster 4 runs off 5 balls before being outed by Mohsin Khan. Suryakumar Yadav, meanwhile, departed after a brief 10 runs off 6 balls at the hands of Stoinis. Hardik Pandya's dismissal on the very first ball was particularly disheartening. Bumrah, on the flip side, kept his overs tight, conceding a mere 17 runs without claiming a wicket. No players from the winning Lucknow team have been selected for Team India.
Next, we turn our attention to the May 1st showdown between Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings. Representing Chennai in the World Cup team were Shivam Dubey and Ravindra Jadeja, with Arshdeep Singh from Punjab. All three had an unimpressive outing. Dubey got out on a duck, and 'Thala' Jadeja scored only 2 off 4 balls. Arshdeep Singh was hit for 52 runs from his quota of 4 overs, although he did secure a wicket.
