During the festive season, Indian Railways is stepping up its services to offer enhanced travel convenience. With an anticipated surge of passengers due to Diwali and the upcoming Chhath Puja, Indian Railways has implemented significant enhancements. Over the next five days, an average of 300 special trains will be deployed daily, totaling 1,500, ensuring travelers reach their destinations with ease.

Over 12,000 Special Train Plans
The Indian Railways plans to run more than 12,000 special trains from October 1 through November 30, 2025, over a span of 61 days. To date, 11,865 trips have already been announced, comprising 9,338 reserved and 2,203 unreserved trips, a significant increase from the previous year, which saw 7,724 special trains. Over the past 21 days, 4,493 trips, averaging 213 daily, facilitated passengers reaching home for Diwali.
Record Passenger Transit at Udhna Station
On October 19, 2025, Udhna Station witnessed a record transit of over 36,000 passengers, marking a 50% increase from the previous year. By 4 PM, all passengers had boarded their trains, reaching home in time for Diwali celebrations. In just 5 days, Udhna Station has seen 120,000 travelers. To efficiently manage the crowds, railways introduced special holding areas and additional ticket counters.
Passengers Praise the Efforts
Travelers are applauding the efficient arrangements. One passenger at Jabalpur Station noted, "Platforms are pristine, security is robust, and station upkeep is exemplary." At Ahmedabad Station, the Railway Police Force (RPF) assisted differently-abled and ailing passengers, facilitating a smoother journey.
