With only a day left to file nominations in Amethi and Raebareli, the suspense lingers over the Congress ticket. Sonia Gandhi's former constituency representative has arrived in Amethi to oversee preparations, sparking intense activity in Delhi. Jayaram Ramesh has hinted at a possible announcement today amid the suspense. He anticipates an official declaration by this evening.
Jayaram Ramesh also subtly provided insights about the candidates, expressing the hope that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi would contest from Amethi and Raebareli, respectively. Meanwhile, KL Sharma, Sonia Gandhi's former representative, assured in an exclusive conversation with Aaj Tak that their preparations are complete and an announcement is imminent.
He also mentioned that the party's candidature will become clear post the leadership's announcement. "We have done our part; I have been here for the past three days," KL Sharma stated, adding that having already nominated from Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi faces no issues with the nomination process. The workers and we are emotionally prepared; the groundwork is laid out.
The Mystery Around Raebareli Continues
Congress has planned a show of strength in Raebareli, but for whom, that remains suspenseful. On the last day of nominations, May 3rd, Congress has made full arrangements for a roadshow in Raebareli. At a meeting with local leaders and activists, there is a directive to pour all their energy into making the mega road-show a huge success.

The preparations in Raebareli are mirrored after those traditionally made during Sonia Gandhi's nominations. Congress leaders stress adherence to the existing SOPs and have instructed workers to report to the Congress office by 10 am. The party has also secured permission from the administration for a roadshow from the Congress office to the nomination site.

CEC Authorizes Kharge for Announcement
Notably, Amethi and Raebareli have been strongholds of the Gandhi family. Sonia Gandhi won the Raebareli seat and secured her place in Parliament in 2019, while Rahul Gandhi faced defeat in Amethi. Rahul Gandhi had contested from both Amethi and Wayanad, emerging victorious in the latter. Now that Sonia Gandhi has moved to the Rajya Sabha and will not contend in the Lok Sabha elections, who will represent these seats has been subject to widespread speculation. Amid rumors of Rahul and Priyanka contesting from these seats, Jayaram Ramesh mentioned that CEC has empowered Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to make the announcement.
