Bihar Bridges Collapse
: The political heat rises in Bihar as bridges fall one after the other. Tejashwi Yadav, RJD leader, has counterattacked and posed questions to the Nitish government. Tejashwi states that his tenure as minister of the concerned department was only 18 months, during which time there were no funds available. The BJP has responded to Tejashwi's statement. The BJP-JDU claim that Tejashwi Yadav was the bridge minister first.
Tejashwi Yadav claims that with the exception of 18 months, the department has always been under the jurisdiction of JDU since Nitish became CM. Over 12 bridges have collapsed in Bihar. Tejashwi emphasizes that he was minister of the department for just 18 months at a time when there were no funds. The rural department has been with JDU for the past 17-18 years, and they seem to refuse to take responsibility.
Enjoying the role or working hard?
Union Minister and JDU leader Rajeev Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, commented, "Tejashwi Yadav held the role of rural development minister for a year and a half. It's up to Tejashwi Yadav to tell us whether he was working hard or just enjoying his position.
Corruption seems to bring them joy...
BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh stated, "It is up to the Chief Minister to investigate. I will advise the Chief Minister to inspect the collapsed bridges, determine the causes, and inform the public about when and during whose tenure these bridges were built. They should form a committee and conduct an inquiry. Regarding Tejashwi, Giriraj said, "Tejashwi Yadav has always been engaged in corruption, which seems to bring him joy.
The Supreme Court intervenes
Given the frequency of bridge collapses, a public interest litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court. Advocate Brajesh Singh has petitioned the Supreme Court to order a structural audit of the construction of small and large bridges in the state that have been completed in recent years. He also advocates for a policy that ensures real-time monitoring of bridge constructions and other government infrastructures to be established and followed.
