The INDIA Block has convened an all-party meeting on June 1st, coinciding with the polling day for the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The election results for the 2024 Lok Sabha will be declared on June 4th, and just four days prior, allies of the INDIA coalition are invited to a crucial gathering in New Delhi. The importance of this assembly is underscored by its timing—one day before Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is expected to surrender at Tihar Jail.

Kejriwal has been provisionally bailed by the Supreme Court until June 1st in a purported money laundering case connected to the Delhi liquor policy. Insiders have revealed to Aaj Tak that this meeting is planned to review and discuss the INDIA coalition's performance in the Lok Sabha elections as well as strategize its future moves. Leaders from participating parties of the coalition, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal, Bihar's former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav, and others, have been invited.

Congress claimed right after the conclusion of the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha election that the INDIA Block had crossed the benchmark of 272 seats and is on a trajectory to secure a total of more than 350 seats. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh also asserted that the INDIA Block is ready to eradicate the NDA coalition. He stated in a post on social media that BJP's fate is nearly sealed, with a clean sweep in the south and diminishing influence in the north, west, and east.

The INDIA Alliance is poised to contest the BJP's dominance

To confront BJP in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, 28 opposition parties have formed a mega alliance called INDIA. Under this alliance, Congress and SP are contesting the Lok Sabha election together in UP. In Bihar, Congress, RJD, and Left parties are part of the coalition. While in Delhi, AAP and Congress have formed an alliance, in Punjab, these two parties have decided to contest elections independently. Bengal witnesses a Congress-Left alliance.

INDIA set to challenge the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance

In Kerala, the Left parties are battling the elections separately from Congress. In Tamil Nadu, the DMK and Congress are coalition partners. Maharashtra's INDIA Block comprises the Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray and the Nationalist Congress Party led by Sharad Pawar in alliance with Congress. In Haryana, Goa, and Chandigarh too, AAP and Congress are alliance partners. On the other hand, there exists a BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, which includes a multitude of 42 smaller and larger parties. Most of these NDA-affiliated parties are regional and have influence within specific communities.
