Be Aware: The Indian team must avoid these 5 mistakes to dominate the final against Pakistan

The Indian team is determined to outplay Pakistan in the finals as well. Recently, India has maintained dominance over the Pakistani team. India has won the past seven international matches between the two teams, and an 8-0 record post-finals isn't surprising.

What are the India-Pakistan stats in finals?

In multi-nation tournaments (with five or more teams), where India and Pakistan have squared off in finals, these matches have been quite thrilling. To date, both countries have clashed five times in such tournament finals. In three instances, Pakistan emerged victorious, while India clinched two wins.

The first final face-off was during the 1985 Benson & Hedges World Championship of Cricket at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), where Sunil Gavaskar led India to an eight-wicket win over Pakistan.

In 1986, the Austral-Asia Cup final in Sharjah saw the teams face off again, where Pakistan, under Kapil Dev’s captaincy, narrowly won by one wicket. This was the iconic match where Javed Miandad hit a last-ball six off Chetan Sharma, securing the victory for Pakistan.

In 1994, under Mohammad Azharuddin’s captaincy, the Indian team faced Pakistan again in the Austral-Asia Cup final, succumbing to a 39-run defeat.

By 2007, at the ICC T20 World Cup final in Johannesburg, MS Dhoni led India to a memorable five-run victory over Pakistan.

The latest encounter was during the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final at The Oval, London, where Virat Kohli's Indian team faced a bitter defeat at the hands of Pakistan, losing by 180 runs.

Now, Suryakumar's brigade aspires to avenge those three final losses (1986, 1994, and 2017) against Pakistan. Considering the current form of the Indian team, Pakistan faces formidable challenges in this final. Capturing the Asia Cup would delight fans as a perfect prelude to the 2026 T20 World Cup.
