In response, the Ranchi police have initiated an investigation. Senior police officials, including Ranchi's DC Rahul Sinha, are personally monitoring the situation. Efforts are being made to verify the authenticity of the threatening audio-video.

The FIR filed in the case states that Gurpatwant Singh Pannu of Sikh for Justice has released a video on YouTube with the intention of getting the cricket match canceled by soliciting action from the banned organization CPI (Maoist) to create disturbances in Jharkhand and Punjab so that Indian team captain Rohit Sharma and England captain Ben Stokes are unable to play the match.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannu is a Punjab native who currently resides in the USA. He has also reportedly threatened the English team with a return in his video message. The FIR clearly states this as a terrorist act.

What does Pannu's threatening video contain?

In this video, Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, by instigating the Maoists, is heard urging not to allow cricket to be played on Adivasi land. The administration considers this a bid to spoil sports relations between two friendly nations and disrupt the game through the banned Maoist organization.

The FIR also mentions that such controversial videos might cause substantial economic loss to the government and attempt to tarnish the country's image internationally. The police have now registered a case under the IT Act and are proceeding with the necessary actions.

The authenticity of Pannu's video to be examined

Ranchi's SSP Chandan Sinha has informed that an FIR has been filed in Dhurwa police station of Ranchi. Although the authenticity of Pannu’s audio-video is currently under investigation. The video was posted on YouTube, making threats and appealing to local Maoist organizations not to let the match proceed. Following the threat, extensive security arrangements have been made.
