At Colombo's R Premadasa Stadium, India crushed Pakistan by 61 runs in a thrilling encounter. Tensions between the two nations were at a peak before this T20 World Cup match. However, the Surya brigade played with a unique flair and bested Pakistan. Post-victory, Captain Suryakumar Yadav clearly stated that the team played their brand of cricket, exactly the way they wanted.
What Surya Said After The Win
Suryakumar remarked, 'I believe this victory is special for India. We played our brand of cricket. Batting first on this pitch was the better choice.' He acknowledged that after the starting score of 0/1, someone had to take the responsibility, and Ishan Kishan fulfilled it excellently. It's noteworthy that Pakistan, after winning the toss, opted to bowl first, which in Surya's view was a miscalculation.
According to the captain, batting in the first innings was not easy as predicting the dew and the pitch behavior under lights was challenging. Suryakumar appreciated the bowlers, stating that everyone contributed collectively. He also shared that the team would be heading to Ahmedabad, focusing on the upcoming matches.
Ishan Emerges as Match Hero
Player of the Match Ishan Kishan mentioned that the wicket wasn't easy initially. Kishan said that trusting your strengths is essential. His aim was to make the bowlers run more towards his side. He noted that he has worked hard on playing off-side strokes.

Ishan revealed that in his mind, a target of 160-170 runs was achievable, which could be considered a good score on this pitch. He admitted that an India-Pakistan clash is always special and this victory would boost the team's confidence further.
Salman Agha Expresses Discontent
Pakistan's Captain Salman Agha admitted that their spin bowling wasn't up to the mark. He mentioned that although the spinners have performed well over the last six months, today didn't go as planned.
He acknowledged that losing too many wickets during the powerplay was detrimental to the team. According to Agha, the pitch in the first innings was slow with the ball coming on slowly, whereas batting became a bit easier in the second innings.
