India delivered a strong counterstatement to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's address at the United Nations General Assembly. Using the 'Right to Reply', Petal Gehlot from India’s Permanent Mission addressed the terrorism accusations towards Pakistan.
'Shahbaz Praises Terrorism'
Gehlot highlighted that this morning's session heard from Pakistan’s Prime Minister once again glorifying terrorism as a central piece of their foreign policy. She reminded that on April 25, 2025, Pakistan defended terror groups like the 'Resistance Front' in the UN Security Council, which were responsible for atrocities against tourists in Jammu and Kashmir.
She pointed out the irony of Pakistan, which sheltered Osama bin Laden for years while pretending to fight terrorism. Their ministers have admitted that Pakistan has been running terror camps for decades.
'Pakistan Boasts of Destroyed Airbases'
The Indian diplomat called out Pakistan on its false victory claims. She clarified that the 'victories' referred to by Pakistan’s Prime Minister are actually their airbases destroyed, hangars burned, and runways damaged by Indian strikes, images that are publicly accessible. If Pakistan sees this as a triumph, let it be so.
'Issues Will Be Resolved Bilaterally Only'
Gehlot asserted that the reality is Pakistan is responsible for terrorist attacks on innocent civilians in India. India will always take retaliatory steps to protect its people. She reiterated that any issues between India and Pakistan will be resolved strictly at a bilateral level, with no room for any third-party intervention.
