In retaliation to the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, the Indian Army launched an airstrike late Tuesday night on nine terrorist locations in Pakistan. Following the strike, the Ministry of Defense issued a statement clarifying that 'Operation Sindoor' was exclusively focused on eliminating terrorist bases. It was reiterated that India's strike was not intended to escalate tensions with its neighbor.
According to the Ministry of Defense, 'A short while ago, the Indian Armed Forces initiated 'Operation Sindoor,' targeting terrorist structures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, where plans for terrorist attacks against India were hatched and executed.'

This decisive action followed the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where 25 Indians and one Nepalese citizen were killed. A detailed briefing on 'Operation Sindoor' will be conducted later.
The operation saw precision airstrikes on terrorist bases located in areas such as Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad around 1:30 AM. On April 22, terrorists had targeted the Baisaran Valley in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, resulting in the death of 26 tourists due to terrorist gunfire. Following this attack, India had warned of severe repercussions.
