India Asia Cup 2025 Squad Announcement:

The Indian team for the Asia Cup has been announced. Surya Kumar Yadav will lead the team. Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar, along with BCCI Secretary Devjeet Saikia, made the announcement on Tuesday (August 19). In the T20 format Asia Cup, Shubman Gill has been entrusted with the role of vice-captain.

Mohammed Siraj, who was a fiery presence on the England tour, might be rested. Siraj claimed 23 wickets in the five-match Test series against England.

Who made the cut for the Asia Cup 2025 team?

Surya Kumar Yadav will captain the T20 team. Tilak Verma and Abhishek Sharma will be key players in the top order. Abhishek Sharma will open, while Tilak Verma bats at number three, followed by Surya Kumar at four. With Shubman Gill also part of the team, his playing position will be intriguing to watch.

Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma have been included as wicketkeeper batsmen in the Asia Cup squad. Sanju Samson will open with Abhishek Sharma, while Jitesh serves as a backup for Samson.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir has consistently advocated for all-rounders. Hence, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, and Axar Patel have been included as all-rounders. Hardik and Shivam are batting all-rounders.

The Asia Cup 2025 cricket tournament is set to begin on September 9, with the final on September 28. This year, the T20 format Asia Cup will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) across two cities, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The Indian team is placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Oman, and UAE.

Meanwhile, Group B consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, and Afghanistan. The Indian team will face UAE in its opening match on September 10 in Dubai, followed by a face-off against Pakistan on September 14, also in Dubai. The team concludes its group stage against Oman on September 19 in Abu Dhabi. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super-4 stage, with the leading teams from the Super-4 competing in the final for the title.
