Amidst the escalating crisis in Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned and sought refuge in India. Her flight landed at the Hindon Airbase near Delhi. An interim government will soon be established in Bangladesh. Speaking on the situation, Independent MP from Purnia, Pappu Yadav, stated that the Indian government should intervene with courage.
Yadav emphasized that the coup in Bangladesh could adversely affect India and the government must intervene fearlessly. He urged the government not just to play politics but to show its diplomatic and strategic capabilities as the guardian of South Asia, just as Indira Gandhi did in 1971, showcasing India's strength to the world.
It is noteworthy that when protesters advanced towards the Prime Minister’s residence on Monday, the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country and sought asylum in India. She is now accommodated at a safe house at the Hindon Airbase, Ghaziabad. A few hours later, Bangladeshi President Mohammed Shahabuddin announced the dissolution of the parliament formed after the January 2024 elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a Cabinet Committee on Security meeting in response to the Bangladesh crisis.
