The final match of the three-match ODI series between India and England was held on February 12 (Wednesday) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In this match, India's star opener Shubman Gill made history. Gill achieved the milestone of becoming the fastest to score 2500 runs in ODI cricket. Gill made his ODI debut against New Zealand on January 31, 2019, at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

Playing his 50th ODI match (50th innings) for India, Shubman Gill reached this magical figure. Gill broke the record of South African great Hashim Amla, who had crossed the 2500-run mark in his 51st ODI innings. Gill needed 25 runs to complete 2500 runs in ODIs, and he achieved this target by hitting a four on the fifth ball of the 10th over of the Indian innings bowled by Gus Atkinson.
