Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan and incarcerated leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), charged on Tuesday that Army Chief General Asim Munir deliberately sabotaged relations with Afghanistan. He claims this was done to please lobbies opposing Kabul's current Taliban government and to present himself as a protector to Western nations.

Imran Khan, 72, has been behind bars on various charges for the last two years. He wrote on social media platform X, "Since Asim Munir became army chief, provocations have been incessant, pushing Afghanistan towards war with Pakistan."

He accused Munir's regime of issuing severe threats to the Afghan government, subsequently violating religious, moral, and international refugee rights by expelling Afghans who have resided in Pakistan for three generations.

Imran Khan stated that attacks on Afghan soil have been conducted, and military operations are now being executed under the pretext of terrorist presence in tribal areas. These policies result in the loss of our citizens' lives. True peace cannot be achieved through such methods; it arises from dialogue.

He advocated for a triumvirate dialogue, urging the people of Pakistan's tribal regions, the Afghan government, and Afghan citizens to unite.

Khan warned that any military action will only escalate terrorism and overburden the police in countering it, which will destabilize governance and law enforcement. He appealed to his fellow leaders to implement special measures for peace and order in flood-affected areas.

The ex-cricketer turned politician further claimed that a conspiracy is underway to defame his party's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. He urged PTI legislators to collaborate with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to address the province's challenges.

Additionally, Khan suggested sending a delegation led by his ally Mahmood Khan Achakzai for peace talks in Afghanistan.
