Y. Pooran Kumar, a senior IPS officer from Haryana, tragically took his own life on October 7th at his residence in Sector 11, Chandigarh. The day before, on October 6th, he had prepared his will and written a nine-page suicide note, which he sent to his IAS wife, Amneet P. Kumar, who was on an official trip abroad. Despite her efforts, with 15 calls made from Japan, Kumar did not answer.

Before his passing, IPS Pooran Kumar made a will declaring his wife, senior IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar, the heir to all his movable and immovable properties. In his suicide note, he stated, "After my death, all properties should be in the name of my wife, Amneet P. Kumar."

On the last page of his suicide note, he detailed his assets, which included money in an HDFC savings account, shares linked to this account's Demat, a plot in Mohali, office space at Universal Business Park in Gurugram, and 25% ownership of a house in Chandigarh's Sector 11A—all designated for his wife. These asset details had already been listed in his annual property declaration.

FIR Filed Against 12 Officers

Following the formal complaint by IAS wife Amneet P. Kumar, Chandigarh police filed an FIR against 12 officers, including Haryana DGP Shatrughit Kapoor. This case was registered at the Sector 11 police station in Chandigarh.

The FIR was based on Y. Pooran Kumar’s suicide note. Sources indicate that he mentioned 13 senior officials in his note, including Haryana's DGP, Rohtak's SSP, and numerous IPS and IAS officers.

Pooran Kumar, a 2001 batch IPS officer from Haryana cadre, accused these officials of caste discrimination, mental harassment, and career obstruction in his suicide note. He further mentioned constant humiliation, denial of promotions and salary benefits, and being trapped in false cases.

Chandigarh police are investigating the matter, with the suicide note as key evidence. This incident has stirred a major uproar in Haryana's administrative and police departments. The government has already ordered an investigation, and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has offered justice assurances to Pooran Kumar's family.
