Lok Sabha Election 2024:
In a bizarre turn of events in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, a man posing as a CBI inspector was arrested right outside a polling center. This faux inspector arrived in an Alto car, draped in a uniform, professing to be on official election duty. However, his charade was short-lived as the on-site officials grew suspicious.
Identified as Ankit, he was caught just a few steps away from the voting center. He made his entrance in a white Alto car, bearing the marking 'Government of Uttar Pradesh' at the front, complete with a red beacon. A counterfeit ID card was recovered from him, which he had intended to use to inspect the voting center.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Verma confirmed the arrest and stated that Ankit is allegedly suffering from a mental disorder. Legal proceedings are currently underway. A number of fake IDs were also discovered in the car. The whole incident unfolded near the LN Public School voting center in Hapur's rural police jurisdiction.
During interrogation, Ankit revealed that he was attempting to inspect the polling booth while masquerading as a CBI inspector, complete with a beacon-fitted car – a sign of authority he apparently forgot was no longer in culture. The police have since arrested him and seized the vehicle.
The video evidence shows Ankit in an ill-fitting uniform adorned with three stars. Despite the appearance, his demeanor did not match that of an officer, and it was this odd behavior that raised the police's suspicions, leading to him revealing his fake ID upon being stopped.
