Continuously under Israel's tactical surveillance, senior Iranian military officers, particularly from the IRGC's Quds Force, have found themselves in peril. Most recently, the IDF released a striking video showcasing the strategic elimination of Behnam Shahryari, the leader behind Quds Force's weapon transfer operations.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that they successfully eliminated an influential commander within the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ foreign branch, Quds Force. Identified as Behnam Shahryari, he was pivotal in transporting weaponry from the Iranian regime to its proxies scattered across the Middle East. His role was significant as the head of Quds Force's weapons unit.
Shahryari, the lynchpin of the Quds Force
Behnam Shahryari, commanding the weapon transfer sector in IRGC's Quds Force, was taken down in western Iran by a precision-guided strike from the IDF. His responsibility extended from the Iranian regime to its proxies in the Middle East, planning to bolster Iran’s strategic aim against Israel.
Missile from 1,000 kilometers away targets Shahryari
An audacious claim by the IDF states that Shahryari was targeted while traveling in western Iran, with a missile launched from a staggering distance of over 1,000 kilometers. Accompanying this claim is a monochrome aerial footage showing the attack on vehicles, purportedly transporting Shahryari. The footage vividly depicts the sudden impact on the highway, where the target's vehicle is halted, ripped apart by a missile, followed closely by an intercepting vehicle stopping abruptly.
Supplying Arms to Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthi Rebels
According to the IDF, Shahryari was instrumental in the supply of missiles and rockets aimed at Israel, channelized to Hezbollah, Hamas, and Yemen's Houthis. Moreover, he managed the transfer of hundreds of millions annually to various terrorist organizations, shouldering the brunt of funding and arming extensive networks.
A major setback for Iran
Besides Shahryari, the Israeli forces claim to have eliminated another Quds Force commander, Saeed Izadi, in Iran's Qom city. The IDF believes the elimination of both Shahryari and Izadi constitutes a grave setback in the strength and restructuring capability of terrorist outfits surrounding Israel.
Exploring the Quds Force
Post the 1979 Islamic revolution, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was established under Supreme Leader Khamenei. Extending beyond Iran, it founded specialized units to prepare proxies in Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and Iraq, collectively known as the Quds Force.
