The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has remained adamant in its stance regarding the T20 World Cup in India. BCB is steadfast in its decision to refuse playing in India. This conclusion came after a meeting with the players and interim sports advisor of the Bangladesh government, Asif Nazrul.

Nazrul expressed that ICC has not been just to Bangladesh. He clearly stated that player safety would not be compromised. BCB and the players wish for their matches in India to be moved to Sri Lanka.

Despite an ultimatum from the ICC, Bangladesh decided to wait it out. Asif Nazrul proclaimed, “We will not back down... The ramifications of Bangladesh not participating in the World Cup should be clear to everyone. Player safety remains our top priority.”

The International Cricket Council (ICC) clarified on January 21 that the ICC Men's T20 World Cup would follow the planned schedule, with all of Bangladesh's matches being held in India. On January 21st, ICC denied BCB's request to hold matches in Sri Lanka.

ICC also pointed out that they had discussed with BCB multiple times, providing them comprehensive security information including central and state-level security arrangements, law enforcement details, and special security plans.
