A massive syndicate suspected of endangering public health has been exposed in Jaipur. Collaboratively, a special police team and Khora Beesal police executed a raid on a factory producing fake ghee. This operation led to the confiscation of approximately 7500 liters of counterfeit ghee.
During the raid, four suspects were taken into custody. The investigation revealed that the arrested individuals were manufacturing fake ghee under the guise of well-known brands and distributing it in the market. The counterfeit ghee closely resembled the genuine article, easily misleading common consumers.
Fake Ghee Produced Using Vegetable Oil and Chemicals
Investigations have uncovered that the suspects were using vegetable and refined soybean oil, which was heated and combined with chemical essences to produce the counterfeit ghee. This mixture was then packaged using labels of established brands such as Saras, Lotus, Amul, Krishna, and Mahan.
The fake ghee was distributed in the market, misleading consumers into believing they were buying genuine brand products. This illegal racket not only tarnished brand reputations but also posed serious health risks to the public.
Significant Seizures from the Factory
Khora Beesal Station House Officer Surendra Singh reported that this unauthorized unit was operating in the factory area located in Balaji Vihar-A, Mansharampura, Sarna Dungar region. During the raid, various brand ghee barrels, carton boxes, and packaging wrappers were confiscated.
Moreover, plastic packing rolls, counterfeit AGMARK seals, sealing machines, electronic scales, and machines used to manufacture fake ghee were seized. Around 10 barrels of raw material and nearly 6000 wrappers were also found.
Daily Supply of 2000 Liters of Fake Ghee
The culprits reportedly packed fake ghee in 15 kg, 1 kg, and 500 gm containers. To avoid detection, production was carried out within the factory premises with shutters closed and vehicles parked inside. Waste and other materials were burned in an incinerator to eliminate evidence.
During questioning, the suspects admitted to preparing approximately 2000 liters of fake ghee daily, supplying it directly to retailers. Police have arrested Rajendra Kumar, Anil Joshi, Bhupendra alias Roopendra Sharma, and Jagdish Sharma. The gang's main suspect, Virendra Sharma, remains at large, with a search ongoing. A complaint by Jaipur Saras Dairy Assistant Manager Himanshu Bairwa has brought this case to light, and investigations are underway.
