The waves of devotion are flowing at the Prayagraj Mahakumbh with a massive gathering of pilgrims. Over the past two days, more than a crore of the faithful have been taking daily dips in the sacred Sangam. It's estimated that over 53 crore pilgrims from around the globe have bathed in these holy waters. Expectations suggest this number will rise by 26th February. During this period, thousands of male and female inmates of Unnao District Jail got the unique opportunity to partake in this spiritual bath using waters from the Prayagraj Mahakumbh. Feeling immensely grateful, they acknowledged that such an opportunity would not have been possible without the efforts of their jail superintendent.

Jail Superintendent Pawan Singh shared via phone that he attended the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj for a spiritual dip on 14th February. Upon returning on the 15th, he brought back water from the sacred Sangam for the incarcerated men and women at the jail. Back on duty, he beautifully adorned the water tank inside the jail with floral garlands and added the holy water to it. The inmates joyously chanted praises to Ganga Maiya as they poured the sacred water over themselves for their spiritual bath.

The jail superintendent further shared that nearly a thousand male and female inmates are housed in Unnao Jail. While they cannot visit the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, they were given the chance to cleanse themselves spiritually with the holy Sangam waters, aiming to purify their minds and souls.

Given the overwhelming crowds gathering for the Magh Mela and Amrit Snan in Prayagraj, the administration has extended officials' deployment period until 27th February. The rising numbers of pilgrims bathing in the Sangam necessitated this decision to ensure smooth law and order and traffic management.

Every day, the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj witnesses millions arriving for the sacred bath in the Sangam. Many pilgrims face challenges like hunger and thirst, as they come long distances for an act of faith. Those returning after their holy dip endure lengthy walks. To assist them, philanthropists and local citizens have set up services providing food and water along the way.
