Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took the stage at the India Today Conclave on Saturday. When questioned about CO Anuj Chaudhary’s statements on Holi and Friday prayers, he stood in defense of the police officer. CM Yogi said, 'During Holi, it is important to respect each other's sentiments. While Friday prayers are a weekly occurrence, Holi is celebrated once a year. It was explained with love. I wish to thank those who issued a statement to let Holi be celebrated first. Holi is on March 14, and after 2 PM, one can perform the prayers.'

CM Yogi Adityanath also pointed out that even Muslim religious leaders have appealed for this. They acknowledged that since Holi is annual and Friday prayers are weekly, they can be postponed. It’s not mandatory to attend if it’s inconvenient, and individuals can pray at home if needed. Avoiding the colors, if preferred, is best done at home. This was the understanding imparted by the police officer. It's fair to note that our officer is a former wrestler and Arjuna awardee, and that background might reflect in his tone. Some may find it harsh, but accepting the truth is necessary.'

On March 6, Circle Officer Anuj Chaudhary suggested those uncomfortable with Holi colors should remain indoors that day. This year, Holi coincides with Friday prayers. Additionally, Chaudhary urged people to maintain communal harmony and adhere to law and order. During a press conference, CO Chaudhary stated, 'Holi is a once-a-year festival, while Friday prayers happen 52 times annually. If one is uneasy about Holi colors, staying indoors is advised. Those venturing out should embrace a united celebration of festivals.'

Chaudhary mentioned that peace committees had been meeting for a month to ensure a peaceful celebration. He appealed to refrain from forcibly applying colors on those who do not wish to celebrate Holi. Opposition parties critiqued Chaudhary's statement, with the Samajwadi Party accusing him of acting as a BJP agent. SP MP Ram Gopal Yadav even threatened to imprison the officer upon a change in government.
