Rainfall in Rajasthan has broken all records, and continuous showers in Ajmer are causing immense difficulty for residents. Water from Ana Sagar and Foy Sagar lakes has begun flooding homes. By 2 PM, Ajmer had received 4 inches of rain.
The posh area of Vaishali Nagar saw waterlogging on both sides of its roads. Streets in Jaipur Road, Soochna Kendra Square, Medical College Square, and Savitri College Road were submerged, causing hardships for the residents.
Heavy Rain Causes Widespread Flooding
In Queen Mary School, heavy rains and the overflowing Bandi river led to waterlogging. SDRF and Civil Defense rescue teams arrived promptly and carried smaller children on their shoulders and guided older ones with ropes to safety. Approximately 500 children present in the school were safely transported to their homes. Traffic in the city was severely disrupted, and photos of children being transported in tractors and ambulances through waterlogged streets went viral. The weather department has issued a yellow alert.
Rivers and Lakes Overflow
On Hatundi Road in the Badgaon area, a seasonal drain overflowed for the first time in 45 years. Water from the drain rapidly flowed onto the main road, drawing a crowd near the Hatundi Road crematorium. A motorcyclist attempted to ride through the water but fell. Fortunately, he was not swept away. Local residents recalled that the drain last overflowed in 1979.
People faced significant trouble commuting on Foysagar Road. Similarly, water from Ana Sagar Lake overflowed onto the road from Chaupati to Christian Ganj Temple. Continuous discharge of water from the lake into the Ana Sagar escape channel is ongoing.
