India is experiencing varying weather patterns with severe heat in some regions and the possibility of rainfall and snowfall in others. According to the Weather Department, there is a chance of heatwaves across West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan on May 5. Meanwhile, a heavy rainfall orange alert has been issued for Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Assam, and Meghalaya.

Delhi's Weather Outlook

Delhi is expected to have clear skies until May 7, with continued strong winds. However, thunderstorms with rain are likely on May 9. The IMD predicts that for the entire week, Delhi's maximum temperatures could range between 38 to 40 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 22 to 24 degrees Celsius.

According to the SkyMet Weather Agency, light to moderate rainfall along with thunder and winds (40-50 km/h) are expected in Northeast India. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely on May 5 and 6, with Sikkim expecting heavy showers on May 5. Additionally, parts of Gangetic West Bengal may see heavy rain on May 7 and 8, while light to moderate rainfall with thunder is expected in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand from May 6 to May 10. Light to moderate rainfall and sporadic snowfall in the higher regions of the Western Himalayas are possible on May 5.

A western disturbance is present as a cyclonic circulation at the height of 3.1 km above sea level, while a trough of low pressure extends above the middle and upper troposphere at about 5.8 km above the mean sea level along the longitude of 59 degrees East up to the latitude of 25 degrees North. Further, a cyclonic circulation persists over Northeast Assam and neighboring areas. A cyclonic circulation is also over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining Western Assam. A trough line extends from Southern Chattisgarh to Rayalaseema in Telangana.
