In an alarming tale of greed over a marital bond, a man from Padma, Hazaribagh, is accused of murdering his wife to claim a 1.5 million rupee insurance policy. To cover this deed, he staged the scene as a road accident.

This shocking incident took place in the village of Donai Kala on October 9th, when Sevanti Kumari died under suspicious circumstances. Initially, family and relatives were misled to believe Sevanti perished in a road mishap. However, a detailed police investigation unraveled the grim truth behind the facade.

The victim's father, Mahavir Mehta, lodged a crucial complaint with the police. He disclosed that his son-in-law, Mukesh Mehta, had insured Sevanti for 1.5 million rupees just a few months prior.

Following this complaint, the police intensified their probe. Barhi Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ajit Kumar Vimal indicated that examination of the scene and the state of the body raised immediate doubts regarding the purported accident.

The absence of physical injuries on Mukesh, typical in road accidents, aroused suspicion. Notably, Mukesh's absence from his wife's funeral also raised red flags.

Husband Confesses

Following a stringent interrogation by the police, Mukesh cracked and confessed to his crime. According to police, Mukesh admitted to strangling his wife with the intent of claiming the insurance money, and then concocting a false narrative. He has been arrested and is now in judicial custody.
