The tragic stampede during a religious gathering in Hathras has claimed the lives of 121 people. Autopsies are being conducted in Agra. The reports of 21 victims have been released, revealing significant insights into the incident.
Most victims died due to asphyxiation, the reports suggest. Three people died from head injuries, while shock and hemorrhage claimed another three lives. Each body arrived at Agra's S.N. Medical College for post-mortem examination covered in dirt, ranging from women aged 35 to 60.
Dr. Arun Srivastava stated that the majority of deaths were due to chest trauma. During the chaos, many were crushed by others, while some suffocated as mud entered their bodies.
Key organizer named as accused by police
In the aftermath, not only the event's main organizer but also the local administration has come under scrutiny. The spiritual leader Baba Narayan Sakar Hari, also known as Bhole Baba, has gone missing. His chief aide and event coordinator, Dev Prakash Madhukar, remains at large too. The police have named Dev Prakash as the main accused in their FIR.
Security personnel were given code words
Sources say that code words were assigned to the security personnel guarding the Baba. Those in pink were known as 'Narayani Sena.' The 'Garun Yoddha' or Black Commandos accompanied the convoy. Brown-dressed individuals with caps were called 'Hari Vahak,' forming teams of 25, whereas the Black Commandos were divided into teams of 20, and the 'Narayani Sena' into teams of 50.
