The tragic suicide of IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar, stationed in Rohtak, Haryana, has sparked waves of unrest throughout the state. The 52-year-old officer fatally shot himself on Tuesday at his home, igniting a political storm. His suicide note accuses prominent figures, including Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor and Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarnia, of caste-based discrimination and severe mental harassment.

On Saturday, the government removed Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarnia from his position. His name was included in a complaint by Puran Kumar's wife, IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar. Surinder Singh Bhoria has been appointed as the new SP of Rohtak. However, the order did not explicitly mention the Puran Kumar case. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini assured that the investigation would be impartial, with strict action against those found guilty.

The Chief Minister emphasized that no guilty officer, regardless of rank, will be spared. Puran Kumar's family has refused permission for an autopsy, accusing officials of moving the body from a government hospital in Sector 16 to PGIMER without their consent. Family members and Dalit organizations have condemned this act as unjust. Amit Ratan, a relative of the deceased and a Punjab AAP MLA, stated, "The body was moved without notifying us."

Mukesh Kumar of Valmiki Sena also accused authorities of transferring the body without family consent and warned that there will be no autopsy or cremation until justice is served. Several senior leaders met with Puran Kumar's wife on Saturday, including leaders from Congress and Aam Aadmi Party.

Randeep Singh Surjewala, Deependra Hooda, former CM Charanjit Channi, and AAP leader Manish Sisodia extended their support to the family. Surjewala remarked, "If justice for an IPS officer is unattainable, what hope is there for the common man?" Charanjit Channi stated, "Puran Kumar was an advocate for Dalit rights. This is not just a suicide, but a question on the system." BSP chief Mayawati demanded strict punishment for the guilty on social media.

She stated on X (Twitter), "This incident proves that the roots of casteism still run deep in governance. The guilty must face severe punishment." Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini assured party workers in Panchkula, "I have spoken to the family. Justice will prevail. Politics has no place in this matter." Chandigarh DGP Sagar Preet Hooda visited Puran Kumar's residence, seeking family approval for the autopsy.

He mentioned, "A board of magistrate, forensic experts, and doctors has been formed. The autopsy will be video-recorded, but only with family consent." An SIT led by an IG rank official has been formed to investigate the case. The FIR does not name the accused, as the investigation is ongoing. Actions will be based on evidence. Chandigarh Police set up a six-member SIT on Friday.

IG Pushpender Kumar leads this SIT. The FIR has been filed under IPC section 108 (abetment to suicide) and relevant SC/ST Act sections. However, Puran Kumar's wife, Amneet, alleged that the FIR is incomplete as not all accused are named. Puran Kumar's suicide note accused the Haryana DGP and Rohtak SP of harassment.
