In today's world, farmers are adopting new techniques in agriculture to reap better profits. A shining example comes from Haryana, where a farmer has successfully shifted from conventional farming to cultivating apple ber, earning a handsome profit as a result.
Meet Ravinder Chahar from Dadri district's Haroda village - once a wheat and mustard cultivator. After a natural disaster devastated his crops, Chahar decided to switch to advanced farming techniques. He planted various fruit trees, including apple ber, which now bring in lakhs of rupees in profit.
Persistent Losses in Traditional Farming Spur Change
Chahar shares that the constant losses in traditional farming prompted him to venture into apple ber cultivation four years ago. He gathered extensive information and procured high-quality saplings from various places. The agriculture and horticulture departments have frequently visited and inspected his orchards since then.
Spending 40,000 to Earn 5 Lakhs Annually
Presently, Chahar farms apple ber on two and a half acres of land. Annually, he incurs an expense of 30 to 40 thousand rupees, which yields a return of about 4 to 5 lakh rupees. His success has motivated other farmers in the area, with the district's Horticulture Officer, Dr. Arun Kumar, advocating for more to adopt this method of cultivation.
