Haryana Vidhan Sabha Elections 2024
: The Haryana Assembly elections are looming, and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal has kicked off roadshows and public rallies. On Tuesday, Kejriwal reached the Rania area in Sirsa district to campaign for the party candidate. He asserted that Haryana's next government cannot be formed without AAP's support. Kejriwal also added that no one asked for his resignation as Delhi CM. He said, 'I am not hungry for power.'
Kejriwal explained that he had resigned and told Delhi voters he would only return to the CM office if they brought him back to power. He called himself a son of Haryana and said, 'Your son has formed governments in Delhi and Punjab. Give us this seat (Rania).'
Tough Battle for the Rania Seat
The Rania seat is witnessing a tough battle. AAP's candidate is Harpinder Singh, while INLD's Arjun Chautala and independent candidate Ranjit Singh Chautala have also stepped into the ring. BJP has bet on Sheeshpal Kamboj, and Congress has fielded Sarvmitra Kamboj. In Haryana, INLD is in an alliance with BSP. Arjun, the son of Abhay Singh Chautala, is related to Ranjit Chautala as his grandson.
In the 2019 elections, Ranjit Singh Chautala, son of Chaudhary Devi Lal, won this seat. Later, he supported BJP. After not getting a BJP ticket, Ranjit Chautala announced his independent candidacy. Ranjit is the younger brother of former CM Om Prakash Chautala.
Kejriwal Launched The Campaign from Yamunanagar
AAP has fielded candidates for all seats in the Haryana elections, but some seats are under their primary focus, including Rania. Earlier, Kejriwal launched his campaign from Jagadhri in Yamunanagar, followed by electioneering in Sirsa's Dabwali. He held a major roadshow in support of AAP candidate Adarsh Pal in Jagadhri. Kejriwal shared his jail experience, stating that Haryana's blood kept him strong. He also criticized the current MLA Kanwar Pal Gujjar for lack of development.
Kejriwal Attacked Dynasty Politics
Kejriwal held a roadshow in Dabwali in support of AAP candidate Kuldeep Gadrana. He reiterated that no one can form a government in Haryana without AAP. 'I am proud to be a son of Haryana. They (BJP) can break anyone, but not someone from Haryana.' Without naming names, he attacked dynastic politics, highlighting that Dabwali has been under the control of a single family. 'AAP will free Dabwali,' he declared. 'AAP's government in Delhi has built excellent schools, ended the education mafia, provided free electricity, and constructed good roads and hospitals.' He claimed his honesty frightens them.
