Thursday saw the first match of a 3-match ODI series between India and England in Nagpur. Indian captain Rohit Sharma included Harshit Rana in the playing eleven for his debut ODI match.

First Indian to Take 3+ Wickets Across All Formats in Debut Matches

Harshit impressed during the match, clinching his third wicket to register a historic achievement. In this game, he dismissed Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, and Liam Livingstone.

By dismissing Livingstone, Harshit secured the record for himself. Now, Harshit Rana is the first Indian to claim 3 or more wickets in his debut innings across all formats (Test, ODI, T20). Previously, he also debuted in Test and T20 cricket.

Debuted in International Cricket with a Test Match

Harshit made his international cricket debut in November 2024 against Australia in the Perth Test. In that match's first innings, he took 3 wickets for 48 runs and 1 wicket for 69 runs in the second innings.

This year, Harshit debuted in T20 cricket, playing his first match on January 31, 2025, against England and took 3 wickets for 33 runs. Just a week later, he has now marked his name in ODI cricket with this remarkable achievement.
