Hapur Police Take Aim at Misuse of Sirens and Lights

In a determined crackdown, the police of Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, tackled the issue of unauthorized use of flashing blue beacons and sirens. The seized items were laid out to spell 'Hapur Police', and the spectacle was captured on drones. Post the directives from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath concerning the use of sirens and beacons, the police are in full action mode.

Per reports, in a sweeping 10-day operation, the Hapur police near Delhi sanctioned 754 vehicles, collecting a sum of 73,000 INR in penalties. The crackdown targeted private vehicles flaunting beacon lights, sirens, and police-colored stickers unauthorizedly.

Note: Traffic officers in Lucknow's Kamta junction were suspended after video evidence surfaced of their intimidating tactics to collect fines.

The Hapur Police removed red beacons from 20 vehicles and sirens and horns from 106. Additionally, 85 vehicles were stripped of pressure horns, police colors, and logos of various departments. The removed items were then used to compose a large 'Hapur Police' display.

The Hapur Police have shared a video of the event, which was taken using drones. The area police officer of the city, Varun Mishra, shared that the drive to dismantle the unlawful use of beacon lights and sirens was carried out following the Chief Minister's orders. So far, 106 vehicles had their sirens removed, and 20 had their beacon lights taken down, with a total of 754 challans issued and 73,000 INR in fines collected.
