Over the past few months, the Food and Drugs Department in Gujarat has been conducting raids across various districts to confiscate adulterated food products. Fraudsters are being targeted through decisive actions. Recently, a significant operation was carried out in Mehsana. In Kadi Tehsil of Mehsana, a raid took place across two locations where 2,300 kilograms of adulterated cheese and 1,600 kilograms of cottonseed oil were seized. These have been valued at approximately eight lakh rupees in the market.
During the inspection of Keshavi Food Products in Kadi, the department discovered that without obtaining any food license, cheese was being produced using vegetable fat. Suspected to be highly adulterated, a sample of the cheese was taken, and the remaining 2,300 kilograms, estimated to be worth 5.50 lakh rupees, was seized in the interest of public health. The investigation revealed that this adulterated cheese was sold in Viramgam's Jamjam Restaurant, Hotel Sahayog, Musafir Restaurant, I-Khodal Dhaba in Kalol, Hotel Amires, and Hotel Satkar at a price of 240 rupees per kilogram.
The oil adulteration investigation was conducted in another company, 'Dharati Industries,' in Kadi Tehsil. Due to strong suspicions of adulteration in the cottonseed oil, a sample amounting to 1,600 kilograms, valued at an estimated 2.30 lakh rupees, was seized in the interest of public health.

Since these food products were primarily found to be unhealthy, they have been sent to a lab for testing, and action will be taken after the investigation results.
