In Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, a groom's attempt to lift his bride on the wedding stage sparked fury, leading to her refusal to marry. Despite her family's attempts to persuade her, the bride stood firm. This resulted in a council between the two families, which ultimately ended with the groom's side returning the dowry and leaving without a wedding.

Indeed, in the village of Saktapur within the Aichora Kamboh police district, a wedding procession arrived from the nearby village of Satupura on the night of March 13. As relatives tried to soothe the bride, she decisively refused to marry. Through the night until Wednesday, they kept attempting to convince the bride, but she was unwavering. Not only did the bride reject the marriage, but she also sequestered the groom and two members of his party in a room. During this time, there were exchanges of heated words between the parties.

Upon learning of the incident, the police arrived and facilitated a discussion between both sides on Thursday morning, but the bride remained unyielding. The bride's family demanded the return of the dowry, which the groom's side brought back Thursday afternoon, leading to the release of the groom and his party.
