The mysterious case surrounding Nikki Bhati's death in Greater Noida continues to take dramatic twists. As the investigation begins anew, shocking revelations by Nikki's sister-in-law, Meenakshi, have come to light. She claims that the fire of dowry demands also ended her marriage, although Bhikhari Singh Payla, her father-in-law, dismisses these allegations as baseless and fictitious.

Meenakshi states that she married Rohit Payla in 2016, with her father gifting a Ciaz car and 20 tolas of gold. Allegedly, the car was sold under the pretense of an accident within a week, leading to increasing taunts, violence, and humiliation. Her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law reportedly dragged her by the hair, while her husband was also physically abusive, even firing a gun once.

Meenakshi reflects, "The only difference is that Nikki is not here, and I am still breathing." Amid her allegations, Bhikhari Singh Payla offers a straightforward, tough response. He asserts, "My son Rohit never raised a hand against Meenakshi. Has it ever happened that a family itself drops a daughter off at her in-laws' and then attacks them? This has happened to us."

Payla continues, "I have all evidence intact. Our doors are always open for her. Meenakshi can come and live here anytime." Through his defense, he firmly backs his family, outright rejecting Meenakshi's claims. She notes that despite having been married for nine years, she scarcely spent nine months at her in-laws’. There were frequent discussions over dowry.

Pressure Forced Dowry Harassment Case Withdrawal

Approximately 100 panchayats were held, each concluding with advice for the daughter-in-law to leave. In 2018, a dowry harassment case was filed, but by 2020, influenced by pressure and political compromise, the case was withdrawn. That same year, her father passed away. She recalls, "The day dad left, everything ended for me. I was rendered homeless. All my hopes were dashed."

Meenakshi Questions Discrimination Among Daughters-in-Law and Daughters

Meenakshi's allegations extend beyond violence. She talks about a double standard policy. She remarks, "I wasn't even allowed to keep a phone, but the daughters enjoyed parlors, social media reels, and Instagram. If there were rules for the daughter-in-law, why not for the daughters? Why isn't there equal strictness?" According to her, this discrimination reveals the family's true nature.
