In Greater Noida, a gang of scammers trapped a young man in a honeytrap, demanded five lakh rupees, and threatened to frame him in a rape case. Frightened, the young man gave them the cash he had on hand. He later reported the incident to the police, who arrested six individuals, including two women, after an investigation.

On Wednesday in Greater Noida, the police took action against a gang that was trapping people in honeytraps and extorting money. They arrested six individuals, including two women. Authorities revealed that this gang was luring people into fake friendships and then blackmailing them for money by threatening to frame them in false rape cases.

According to the agency, the police identified the arrested individuals as the gang leader Raj Chaudhary, Bhupendra Singh, Faizan Ahmed, Rahul Kumar, Sanjana Yadav, and Rifa alias Rustam. Additional Police Commissioner of Greater Noida, Ashok Kumar Sharma, stated that the gang targeted gullible people.

The gang members initially befriended their victims over calls and invited them to parties. Later, they threatened to accuse them of rape or molestation, extorting money from the victims. The police arrested six members, including two women, who used false identities when making contact. A Mahindra Scorpio was also seized from them.

On Tuesday, the victim, a resident of Moradabad, registered a case at the Beta 2 Police Station, leading to the busting of this racket. The police stated that on June 10, 2024, the accused used Rifa to lure the victim to meet. The victim, along with a friend, fell into the gang's trap.

When the victim arrived to meet Rifa, the gang leader Raj Chaudhary, along with associates Sanjana Yadav, Bhupendra Singh, Faizan Ahmed, and Rahul Kumar, intercepted them. They forcibly took control of the victim's car and threatened both friends. The gang demanded five lakh rupees and threatened to frame the victim in a fake rape case if the demand wasn't met.

Out of fear, the victim handed over 50,000 rupees he had in his car. He later lodged a complaint at the Beta-2 Police Station. The police registered the case under various sections and initiated an investigation. During the investigation on Wednesday, the police arrested the accused near Pari Chowk. During interrogation, the gang members confessed to carrying out a similar incident 20 days earlier near a farmhouse in Sector-135, Noida.
