In the village of Sirsa, Greater Noida, a woman's life was tragically ended due to unmet dowry demands. The victim's family filed a case against the in-laws, accusing them of this dreadful act. The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of the Kasna police station, and it is reported that the victim got married in December 2016.
The Family's Staggering Demand for 3.5 Million Rupees
Allegedly, the husband and in-laws persistently demanded 3.5 million rupees. When the demand wasn't met, the victim, Nikki, was brutally beaten and then set ablaze after being doused with a flammable substance. According to the family, both Nikki and her sister Kanchan were married into the same family. Kanchan married Rohit, while Nikki wed Vipin in December 2016.
Generous gifts, including a Scorpio car, were presented during the marriage, followed by another car as well. Despite these, the demands for 3.5 million rupees continued. Kanchan, the victim's sister, revealed that on August 21st, Nikki was assaulted by her husband Vipin and his family, eventually being set on fire with a flammable liquid after losing consciousness.
With the help of neighbors, Nikki was rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to Delhi, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Meanwhile, a video of the deceased woman's young child surfaced, showing the little one alleging that his father set their mother on fire with a lighter. The video is spreading rapidly on social media.
Teams Formed for Accused's Arrest
The victim's family accuses that their daughter faced constant harassment from her in-laws since marriage. Several panchayat meetings attempted reconciliation, but the in-laws refused to comply. Currently, based on the family's complaint, the Kasna police have registered a case against husband Vipin, brother-in-law Rohit, mother-in-law Daya, and father-in-law Satveer.
Sudhir Kumar, ADCP of Greater Noida, stated that two teams have been formed for the arrest of the accused, and they will be brought to justice soon.
