The opposition's INDIA alliance is set to demonstrate its collective strength today with leaders from all constituent parties gathering for a massive rally at Delhi's Ramlila Ground. Leaders are arriving in Delhi to join the gathering, including PDP chief and former Jammu & Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti for the India Alliance rally.
Delhi Minister Imran Hussain has welcomed Mufti in the capital. Following Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal's incarceration, his wife Sunita Kejriwal has become quite active in meeting political figures. Yesterday, Sunita was visited by Kalpana, wife of Jharkhand's former CM Hemant Soren.
Top Opposition Leaders to Participate
Leaders of India's political echelons, like Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Bhagwant Mann, Akhilesh Yadav, and Tejashwi Yadav, will be present at Sunday's rally at Ramlila Ground. The rally is being seen as a significant show of force and unity against the backdrop of Arvind Kejriwal's arrest. National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah affirmed that party president Farooq Abdullah will attend the "Save Democracy" rally. An AAP leader hinted at the possible participation of Delhi's Chief Minister's wife, Sunita Kejriwal.
What Did Gopal Rai Say?
Senior AAP leader Gopal Rai, after inspecting the arrangements at Ramlila Ground, claimed that even Congress leader Sonia Gandhi will participate. According to Congress, the rally by INDIA alliance sends a "strong message" to Lok Kalyan Marg, where the Prime Minister's residence is, signaling the end of the ruling BJP government. Addressing a press meet about the rally, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated that party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and former president Rahul Gandhi, along with other senior leaders, will address the rally on Saturday. However, he emphasized, "This is not a rally for one individual." He referred to the assembly as a "Save Democracy rally," involving approximately 27-28 parties.
'Anger Over Kejriwal's Arrest'
All components of the INDIA coalition will be part of the rally.
