The Grand Alliance has confirmed its candidate roster for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council elections. Representing the Rashtriya Janata Dal are prominent figures like Rabri Devi, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Urmila Thakur, and Faijal Ali. The CPI(M) has fielded Shashi Yadav. Notably, the Congress has abstained from nominating any candidates for the council elections this time. The elections are being held for 11 seats.

Six candidates will represent the NDA, and five from the Grand Alliance will enter the fray. JD(U) has already fielded Nitish Kumar and Khalid Anwar, while HAM's Minister Santosh Kumar Suman has also completed the nomination process. The BJP is yet to announce names for their three candidates.
Voting is scheduled for
March 21
, with the nomination process concluding on March 11 and the last day to withdraw candidacy set for March 14. Polling for all 11 seats will take place on March 21, with counting commencing that evening and wrapping up by March 23.
End of Term Approaches for These Politicians
The terms of 11 MLCs, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Rabri Devi, Shahnawaz Hussain, and Santosh Suman, conclude on May 6.
Of the 11 seats, three are held by the BJP and one by the Congress, while the incumbent JD(U) commands the majority. Additionally, one seat belongs to Santosh Suman of HAM, the brainchild and son of Bihar's former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi. Although HAM lacks a sufficient legislative bloc, they captured the seat in 2018 through an alliance with RJD but joined the NDA two years later.
