The Delhi Police have cracked down on a counterfeit coin factory in the Mandoli area, arresting two suspects, Akash Rathore and Sarvesh Yadav. According to the police, both suspects were operating this factory in the Mandoli locale of Delhi and had been distributing fake 20-rupee coins throughout various regions using their network.
Akash Rathore, a commerce graduate from the University of Delhi, launched his operation in 2023. He acquired approximately 500 kilograms of iron sheets from the market to create the counterfeit coins. During this time, Sarvesh Yadav became an accomplice by distributing the counterfeit coins in the market.

Having previously completed a Bachelor of Engineering in Indore, Akash Rathore had been involved in this deceitful practice for many years. The police are interrogating both culprits and attempting to track down other members of the syndicate. Over the past three years, they have managed to distribute counterfeit coins worth approximately 20 lakh rupees. This operation was conducted by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police.
Initially, on the basis of a tip-off, both suspects were apprehended from the Burari area, and fake coins valued at 1 lakh 60 thousand rupees were recovered from them. Following their lead, a raid was carried out at their factory in Mandoli near Shahdara, where the coin-making machine and the iron sheets used for making coins were seized.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police of the Special Cell, Manoj C., shared that the recovered counterfeit coins closely resemble genuine coins but are slightly lighter in weight. They lack the luster of real coins, and the national emblem imprinted on them is somewhat blurred. Despite these disparities, distinguishing the fake coins from real ones in the market poses significant difficulty.
