Ever since winning the Gold Medal in javelin throw at the Paris Olympics, Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem has been in the spotlight. By securing the first individual Olympic Gold Medal for Pakistan in 40 years with a remarkable throw of 92.97 meters, he created a new Olympic record. His home has been flooded with well-wishers and gifts. Adding to these accolades, Punjab's Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited Arshad in his hometown of Mian Channu on Tuesday. During her visit, she presented the Olympic Gold medalist with a check for 10 crore rupees (Pakistani rupees).

CM Maryam reached Mian Channu by helicopter and met with Arshad at his home, where the javelin star and his family welcomed her warmly. The Chief Minister congratulated Arshad and his mother Raziya Parveen and had a long and heartfelt conversation with them. According to the press release, Maryam presented Arshad with a check for 10 crore rupees in celebration of his triumphant throw, making good on her prior promise. She also gave him a Honda Civic car with a special registration number, PAK-92.97, matching his record-breaking throw.

A Check of 50 Lakh Rupees for the Coach

In addition to this, the Chief Minister also handed over a check of 50 lakh rupees to Arshad's coach Salman Iqbal Butt, recognizing his commendable effort in training Nadeem. The press release quoted Maryam saying, 'Arshad Nadeem has brought unparalleled joy to the nation.'

Maryam shared photos of the meeting on X, posting, 'Prayers of parents take a person to new heights!' In another post, she said, 'Well done, Arshad Nadeem,' sharing pictures of herself placing the medal around Arshad's neck.

Arshad Invited to Dinner at the Prime Minister’s Residence

Furthermore, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed that he would host dinner for Arshad and his family tonight at the Prime Minister's residence. During a federal cabinet meeting, PM Shahbaz again praised Arshad, emphasizing how he overcame many challenges through unwavering effort. He also commended the javelin thrower’s parents and coach for their support to the Gold medalist.

According to Radio Pakistan, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar detailed arrangements, stating that a special plane from the Pakistan Air Force will bring Arshad, his family, and his coach from Multan Airport. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Tarar said that a committee of federal ministers will welcome the national hero Arshad at Noor Khan Airbase and provide state protocol during his visit.

Flag Hoisting with the PM on Independence Day

Radio Pakistan quoted Tarar stating that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been directed to produce a biopic on the Olympic athlete’s struggles and life. Tarar mentioned that on Independence Day, Arshad and Prime Minister Shahbaz will jointly hoist the national flag during the ceremony in Islamabad. According to APP, the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has announced an Umrah package for Arshad and his family. The report states that Arshad will be going for Umrah with his wife, children, and parents after the conclusion of the ceremony.
