Mom... I'll return to find you... These are the words of Rakhi, also known as Mahogany, as she heads back to America from Lucknow. Mahogany is the girl who traveled from America to India after 20 years to seek out her biological parents. Her quest, however, remains incomplete. Nevertheless, Mahogany hasn't given up hope. She expressed her intention to return to India. This time, she came with a one-month tourist visa. After her visa expired, she returned to America on Monday.

Back in the year 2000, Mahogany was found abandoned at Charbagh Railway Station in Lucknow, a mere one-and-a-half to two years old. Despite the GRP's efforts to trace her family, no leads were found. Mahogany was then sent to Leelavati Munshi Niraashrit Balgriha (Orphanage).

Reaching America Early in Childhood

Two years later, an American woman, Carol Brand, adopted Mahogany from the orphanage. By the time she was about five, Mahogany had traveled directly from Lucknow to Minnesota, USA. However, once they reached America, Carol's behavior shifted. As a single mother, she began mistreating Mahogany. Unfortunately, Mahogany had no choice but to stay with Carol.

Before her passing, Carol revealed the full truth to Mahogany. Five years ago, Carol passed away, leaving some documents with Mahogany to help her uncover her past in Lucknow. This revelation prompted Mahogany's plan to visit India. Financial constraints and visa issues caused delays. Last month, after securing a visa, she traveled with her friend Christopher directly to Delhi, then made her way to Lucknow.

Searching for Biological Parents

Upon reaching Lucknow, Mahogany was candid with 'AajTak.In' about her lack of information regarding her biological parents. Thus, her mission in India is to find her parents, siblings, or relatives. Her first stop was the orphanage that had once been her home, where she stumbled upon some old documents.

Mahogany also revisited Charbagh Railway Station where she was found abandoned. However, GRP could not provide any additional information. With determination, Mahogany turned to the media for help in this challenging search mission. Meanwhile, a woman from Delhi claimed to be Mahogany's mother, which, upon investigation, proved false.

What Happened After Arriving in Lucknow?

At the age of 26, Mahogany arrived in Lucknow on September 18, 2023, with her friend Christopher. They stayed in a rented house in Indiranagar. Their path crossed with a cab driver, Rajkamal Pandey, who became their guide throughout the journey.

Every day, Mahogany, along with Christopher and Rajkamal, would venture out to trace her family across Lucknow. They explored every potential lead. Despite visiting King George Medical College for more insights, they found no new information. Mahogany only holds some photos from her childhood and documents related to her adoption from the orphanage.

Woman Claimed to Be Mahogany's Mother, but...

Cab driver Rajkamal Pandey noted that when the story aired, a woman from Delhi came forward, claiming to be Mahogany's mother. She narrated how her daughter went missing in Lucknow while traveling from Muzaffarpur to Delhi, suspecting Mahogany might be her daughter.

However, when Mahogany contacted the woman and conducted a DNA test in a Delhi lab, the results did not match, debunking the woman's claim. As of now, Mahogany has returned to America. Upon departure, she expressed her intent to return to Lucknow to continue her pursuit of her parents and extended gratitude to the media and locals for their assistance.
