Once again in Rafah, Gaza, Israeli gunfire has claimed the lives of at least 14 Palestinians, with nearly 90 more wounded. The shooting unfolded as individuals queued for food distributed by an organization supported by Israel and the United States. In the aftermath, chaos and cries enveloped the area.
Homes across Gaza are shrouded in mourning, with hospitals burdened by bodies. Many are fighting for life as Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians who were simply in line for food assistance. The Health Ministry of Gaza has confirmed the casualties.
Mohammad Kabaga, displaced from northern Gaza and a victim of the shooting, shared his experience: "We went for assistance and were asked to line up. Without warning, they began shooting. I was shocked to find myself hit and falling. This incident has left many injured," he recounted.
A similar event occurred on June 1, when masked assailants opened fire on thousands gathered for food, resulting in 31 Palestinian deaths and numerous injuries. Witnesses claimed it was also the work of Israeli forces. The food distribution was managed by an Israel and US-backed organization.
Israel's military admitted responsibility for the shootings, confirming multiple fatalities. Criticism echoed globally, including from the United Nations. Despite international outcry, tragically, such violence displaced and affected countless families.
Daily Israeli attacks continue in Gaza, with many casualties reported. International pressure seems insufficient to induce a ceasefire. Despite multiple nations like the US and Qatar striving for peace, Israel remains steadfast on conditions opposed by Hamas.
On a previous operation, Israeli forces claimed to discover the tunnel complex under Khan Yunis's European Hospital in Gaza. Accompanied by foreign journalists, they reportedly found the remains of Hamas leaders and an arsenal of weapons.
According to IDF spokesperson Brigadier General Efi Defrin, Hamas used this tunnel as a command-and-control center. He revealed, "Beneath the emergency room, we found the body of Mohammed Sinwar, linked to a notorious terrorist organization."
Last month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Sinwar's death, a fact confirmed by Sinwar's DNA according to Defrin. Meanwhile, Hamas refrains from commenting on the deaths of Sinwar and Shabaneh. Mohammed Sinwar was the younger brother of the former Hamas chief Yihya Sinwar, who was also killed in Israeli strikes.
